New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is set to introduce integrated last-mile connectivity (LMC) services from metro stations across the National Capital Region (NCR) to enhance passenger convenience and enable seamless end-to-end urban mobility. The initiative, aligned with the vision of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), also aims to promote environment-friendly transport solutions and address air pollution concerns in the capital.

To operationalise the initiative, DMRC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Ltd (STCL), a multi-state cooperative society and cooperative-based mobility service provider operating the “Bharat Taxi” platform. Bharat Taxi is an initiative of the Ministry of Cooperation and is designed to promote cooperative economic models while ensuring transparent and reliable service delivery.

Under the collaboration, organised last-mile mobility services, including bike taxis, auto-rickshaws and cab services, will be integrated with DMRC operations to provide affordable, reliable and safe connectivity from metro stations. The services will be offered on an aggregator (marketplace) model, initially covering 10 identified metro stations.

As part of the pilot phase, dedicated bike taxi services will be deployed at two metro stations, Millennium City Centre and Botanical Garden, by January 31, 2026. The pilot will assess commuter response, operational feasibility and service effectiveness before scaling up to additional locations.

A key component of the initiative is digital integration. The Bharat Taxi mobile application, available on Android and iOS platforms, will be integrated with DMRC’s Sarthi app. This will enable commuters to plan, book and access metro and last-mile services through a unified digital interface, offering door-to-door mobility solutions in a single journey flow.

Through app integration, passengers will be able to view available last-mile options at metro stations, obtain fare estimates, track vehicles and complete their journeys with greater ease. The digital framework is expected to improve transparency, reduce waiting times and enhance overall service reliability.

Fare rates for the integrated services will remain competitive with existing market offerings. While peak-hour pricing may apply, fare surges during peak periods will be capped to ensure affordability and safeguard passenger interests.

To improve awareness and adoption, DMRC will install appropriate signages at metro stations highlighting the availability of last-mile connectivity services, booking methods and service locations.

The initiative is also aligned with DMRC’s broader commitment to sustainable urban transport. By strengthening first- and last-mile connectivity and reducing dependence on private vehicles, the programme is expected to help lower vehicular emissions and improve air quality in the NCR.

With the introduction of integrated last-mile connectivity, DMRC aims to further strengthen its position as the backbone of passenger-centric and environmentally responsible urban transportation, while supporting national objectives related to sustainability, digital integration and cooperative development.
