The two 32-metre tugs, designed for high manoeuvrability and enhanced escort performance, are aligned with the government’s Maritime India Vision 2030 and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. They are expected to modernise VPA’s fleet, support rising vessel traffic, improve turnaround time, and strengthen emergency response preparedness.

HSL's CMD Capt. G. Venkateswarlu, IN (Retd) termed the partnership with VPA a matter of pride and noted that steel cutting marks the tangible beginning of a vessel tailored to meet the evolving demands of Visakhapatnam Port. He highlighted that HSL is executing major national programmes, including complex naval projects such as Fleet Support Ships, at a strong pace.
