

New Delhi: Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday said that the operations of Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) in Rajasthan reflect India’s vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 and showcase the transformation of the country’s mining sector into a modern, technology-driven and responsible growth engine.

The minister visited Hindustan Zinc’s Rajpura Dariba Complex in Rajasthan, including the Sindesar Khurd Mine and Dariba Smelting Complex, where he reviewed underground mining operations, integrated smelting facilities and community development initiatives.
During the visit, Reddy said India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat would be driven by mineral resources, domestic capabilities and future-ready industries. He noted that Hindustan Zinc’s integrated mining-to-metal operations, focus on safety, innovation, workforce diversity and community development align with the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The company, which has an annual refined metal production capacity of more than 1.1 million tonnes, plays a key role in strengthening India’s mineral security and domestic metals ecosystem. Metals such as zinc, lead and silver are critical for sectors including renewable energy, electric mobility, electronics, defence and advanced manufacturing.

The minister also reviewed technology-led mining practices at the Sindesar Khurd Mine, including tele-remote operations, paste filling systems and remote-operated equipment. He witnessed a live demonstration by India’s first women mine rescue team and interacted with contract workers, women mining engineers and employees.
