MCL signs MoU with Talcher Fertilizers for scientific fly ash utilisation

New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Talcher Fertilizers Limited (TFL) for the safe and scientific utilisation of fly ash generated from TFL's upcoming coal gasification-based Ammonia-Urea Project at Talcher.

Under the agreement, fly ash generated from the fertiliser project will be transported through a High Concentration Slurry Disposal (HCSD) system and scientifically deposited at Quarry No. IV of MCL's Jagannath Open Cast Project.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring environmentally sustainable ash management while facilitating scientific mine reclamation in line with the guidelines of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).

The MoU has been signed in Sambalpur by P. K. Mishra, General Manager (P&P), on behalf of MCL, and Vivek Srivastava, Managing Director, on behalf of TFL, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

According to MCL, the collaboration will promote sustainable industrial practices, enable efficient utilisation of mine voids and strengthen responsible environmental management.
