MCL signs MoU with Bolangir administration to enhance maternal and child healthcare in Titlagarh

New Delhi: State-run Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bolangir district administration to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services in Titlagarh through the deployment of battery-operated patient transport vehicles.

Under the agreement, MCL will provide financial assistance of Rs 17 lakh under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for the deployment of three battery-operated vehicles to facilitate transportation of patients and attendants between Titlagarh town and the Mother & Child Hospital (MCH), Titlagarh.

The MoU was signed by Jyotirmay Sinha and G. S. Isalwar.

Mother & Child Hospital, Titlagarh, is the region’s only dedicated referral healthcare facility for maternal and child healthcare. The hospital serves a large rural and tribal population from Titlagarh and the adjoining blocks of Muribahal, Belpara, Patnagarh, Saintala, Bongomunda and Deogaon.

According to MCL, the battery-operated vehicles will provide a safe, affordable and environment-friendly transportation facility, particularly benefiting pregnant women, newborns, elderly patients and economically weaker sections of society.

The initiative is expected to benefit nearly 1.73 lakh residents of Titlagarh and surrounding areas by improving access to timely healthcare services and supporting better maternal and child health outcomes.

MCL said the project aligns with its broader commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and strengthening public health infrastructure through impactful CSR interventions.

The coal miner has previously implemented a similar patient transportation initiative at the SVPPGIP in Cuttack, which has contributed to improving access to neonatal healthcare services.

The latest initiative underscores MCL’s continued focus on creating sustainable social impact through targeted healthcare and community development programmes in Odisha.
