New Delhi: In a recent tweet, the Ministry of Railways posted that Minister of State for Railways, V Muraleedharan virtually flagged off Punya Theertha Yathirai Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train from Kochuveli Railway Station, Kerala on May 4.

IRCTC Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train, a youtube channel owned by the state-run PSU, IRCTC posted an informative video on the train while showcasing its package cost, destinations it would cover, and boarding points. In the video, IRCTC said that the passengers would undertake this train journey for 11 nights and 12 days.

The train will cover destinations like Puri, Konark, Kolkata, Gaya, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj. Further, the video also shared the boarding and deboarding points, which include Sengottai, Tenkasi, Rajapalayam, Sivakasi, Trichy, Thanjavur, Chennai, and Egmore.

As per the video, the train has already departed from Kochuveli Railway Station, Kerala on May 4. The video also informed that the total package costs around Rs 20,367.

Indian Railways introduced the concept of operating tourist trains on theme-based circuits under the banner of Bharat Gaurav Tourist Trains. The journeys undertaken on these trains are on diverse circuits which are offered in the form of tour packages wherein services like off-board travel and excursions by buses, stay at hotels, tour guides, meals, travel insurance, etc are provided along with comfortable train journey and allied onboard services.

IRCTC’s Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train has a mixed composition of Sleeper (Non-AC), AC III-tier, and AC II-tier coaches. The exterior of these trains showcases popular Indian monuments, sculptures, landmarks, dance forms etc which are an integral part of the country’s pride. These trains have a total capacity of around 600 - 700 seats and are fitted with infotainment systematic and CCTV cameras in common areas along with unarmed security in each coach. The trains have a well-equipped pantry car for preparing fresh meals onboard based on regional cuisines served at the respective passenger seats.
