The agreement, signed recently in Oslo, aims to leverage NGI’s expertise in geotechnical engineering and natural hazard mitigation for planning, design, assessment and monitoring of critical infrastructure projects.

Under the MoU, NGI will provide consultancy services in areas such as tunnel construction, slope stability analysis, monitoring of slopes, structural assessment and safety audits of operational tunnels. The collaboration will also include feasibility studies, preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), analysis of InSAR data and development of early warning systems to improve infrastructure safety.

NHAI said the partnership will also focus on institutional capacity building and knowledge exchange through joint workshops, seminars, technical training programmes and research initiatives related to reducing natural hazards.

The MoU, which will remain valid for five years, is non-exclusive and will allow both organisations to collaborate independently with other entities on a project-to-project basis.
