NMDC Steel becomes 1st company to receive BIS Certification for hot rolled steel for pipeline transportation

New Delhi/Raipur: NMDC Steel Limited (NSL) has achieved a major milestone by becoming the first company in the country to receive an Indian Standards (IS) license for “Hot Rolled Steel Strip, Sheet, and Plates for Welded Steel Pipe for Pipeline Transportation Systems – General Requirements (IS 18384:2023).”

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) presented the certification to NMDC Steel during the 'World Standards Day 2025' celebrations held at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur. NMDC Steel's Chief General Manager (Steel) Amrit Narayan received the award from the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Vishnu Deo Sai, in the esteemed presence of the Minister of Food & Civil Supplies Dayal Das Baghel and BIS Raipur's Director & Head SK Gupta.

This achievement is the result of NMDC Steel’s commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainable industrial practices. It also highlights company’s vision to manufacture world-class steel products that meet the stringent safety and performance standards required in the petroleum and natural gas sectors.

The IS 18384:2023 certification serves as a benchmark for excellence in steel products intended for pipeline transportation systems, highlighting NMDC Steel’s focus on technological advancement, superior product quality, and adherence to sustainability goals.
