

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: In a focused effort to enhance operational efficiency, transparency, and digital governance across its mining operations, the Managing Director of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) Sudhansu Mohan Samal (IAS) undertook a two-day review visit to the corporation’s iron ore mines in the Barbil region.
Accompanied by Director (HR) Alok Kumar Pal, Director (Finance) Bana Bihari Pani, and senior officials from OMC’s Head Office Samal assessed production performance, ore despatch mechanisms, and readiness for capacity expansion at key iron ore mines.
During the first day of the visit, the Managing Director reviewed operations at the Guali, Banspani, and Jilling-Langalota Iron Ore Mines and interacted with Mines Managers of all Barbil-region mines, including Gandhamardan, Tiringpahar, Roida C, Unchabali, Khandbandh, and Dubna-Sekradihi. The review meetings emphasized team coordination, efficiency, and the timely resolution of operational challenges to ensure higher growth in iron ore production compared to the previous fiscal year.
At Guali and Banspani Mines, the focus was on enhancing transparency in grade-specific ore despatch and reinforcing accountability in ore quality and movement through digital monitoring systems. The MD also reviewed the progress of technology-driven interventions aimed at improving data integrity and real-time oversight.
At Jilling-Langalota Mines, deliberations centred on operational readiness and despatch preparedness to support OMC’s planned expansion to a 12 million tonne production capacity, with an emphasis on safety, sustainability, and efficiency.
On the second day, the MD reviewed operations at Roida C, Tiringpahar, Khandbandh, Unchabali, and Dubuna-Sekradihi Mines, where discussions focused on achieving higher production targets and optimizing ore despatch systems to maintain production momentum and meet current fiscal sales targets.
Reaffirming OMC’s commitment to responsible and sustainable mining, Samal highlighted the corporation’s focus on operational excellence, accountability, and transparency through digital transformation. He noted that these initiatives are positioning OMC as a benchmark in responsible mining practices, contributing significantly to Odisha’s industrial and economic growth.
