PESB fails to recommend any candidate for BSNL's CMD post

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has not recommended any candidate for the position of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The selection panel's interview-cum selection meeting was held on Tuesday, in which a total of 10 candidates appeared.

"The Board did not recommend any candidate and advised the Ministry of Mines to choose an appropriate course of further action, including search-cum-selection committee (SCSC), or as deemed appropriate for the selection with the approval of the competent authority," the Board said in a notification.

The appointment of a new CMD is critical for BSNL as it navigates its ongoing financial restructuring, 5G rollout, and operational challenges. The role demands strategic leadership to drive the state-run telecom operator’s revival and competitiveness in the sector.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is India’s state-owned telecommunications company, providing mobile, broadband, and fixed-line services across the country.
