The candidates interviewed by the PESB Selection Panel included one candidate each from MOIL Limited, Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT), and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

"The Board did not find any candidate suitable for the post and recommended that the Ministry of Mines to take appropriate course of further action including SCSC or as deemed appropriate," the PESB panel said in a notification issued on Tuesday.

This is the 2nd time when PESB is unable to find a suitable candidate for the HCL’s CMD post. Earlier in April 2023, the PESB panel had advised to the Ministry of Mines to form a search-cum-selection committee (SCSC) for the selection with the approval of the competent authority, citing the same reason.

HCL's CMD post has been vacant since August 01, 2023. However, its Director (Finance) Ghanshyam Sharma has been holding the additional charge of the post.
