New Delhi: Salim G Purushotham has been recommended for the post of Director (Operations) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Steel. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. Presently, he is serving as Executive Director in Braithwaite & Co. Ltd. However, the appointment of Purushotham as Director (Operations) of RINL is not final, and subjected to the final outcome of a Writ Petition filed in the Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh.

“Above recommendation is subject to the final outcome of the WP No. 26646 of 2023 filed in the Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati,” PESB said in its official notification.

Purushotham has been selected for the post of Director (Operations) of RINL from a list of 12 candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its selection meeting held on May 21. Out of 12 candidates, six candidates were from RINL, two from SAIL and one each from Braithwaite & Co. Ltd., NTPC Limited, Central Coalfields Ltd. and Indian Ordnance Factories Service.

“The Selection Meeting was held on 11.10.2023 and in compliance of the interim order dated 11.10.2023 of Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati in the matter of WP No. 26646/2023 filed by Dr. V.R. Bapa Rao, the recommendation was not finalized. Subsequently, on seeking advice of the Central Govt. Standing Counsel, he opined that “in light of the court’s order dated 11.10.2023, the Board is at liberty to finalize the interview and proceed further”. Hence, Board met again on 21.05.2024 to finalize the recommendation,” PESB clarified in its notification.
