Power Grid emerges successful bidder for RE transmission project in Karnatakaa

New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has been declared the successful bidder under tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) for an inter-state transmission system project aimed at integrating additional renewable energy capacity in Karnataka.

The project, to be implemented on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis, involves strengthening the transmission system for evacuation of renewable energy from Davanagere (0.25 GW) and Bellary (2.75 GW). Power Grid received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on January 8, 2026, following its issuance on January 7, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The scope of work includes construction of a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line in Karnataka, along with associated line bays and augmentation works, including ICTs and line bays, at the Davanagere and Bellary pooling stations.
