Railways approves Rs 153 crore four-lane ROB at Geratpur-Ahmedabad section in Gujarat

New Delhi: Indian Railways has approved construction of a four-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Level Crossing No. 305 on the Geratpur-Ahmedabad section of Western Railway in Gujarat at a sanctioned cost of Rs 153 crore.

The project has been approved under Western Railway’s ongoing umbrella work for construction of road over and under bridges, foot over bridges, drainage improvement and rebuilding of road over and under bridges.

Located in a densely populated urban area, the level crossing requires longer approaches and a larger bridge structure. The railway portion of the ROB will have a total length of 106 metres and will comprise two composite girders of 53 metres each. It will be followed by a 150-metre viaduct, while the railway approach will extend to 595 metres.

The four-lane ROB is expected to facilitate uninterrupted movement of road traffic across the railway line, eliminating the need for commuters to wait at the level crossing.

The project is aimed at improving road safety, reducing travel time and easing congestion for commuters in the area. The approval is also part of Indian Railways’ broader efforts to eliminate level crossings and develop safer and more efficient transport infrastructure.
