SAIL, BCCL sign MoU to boost domestic coking coal production

New Delhi: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the joint development and operation of two coal blocks in West Bengal.

Under the agreement, SAIL and BCCL will jointly develop and operate SAIL's Indikatta Ramnagore Coal Block and BCCL's East of Damagoria (Kalyaneshwari) Coal Block in West Bengal.

The MoU marks a step towards increasing domestic production of coking coal and developing indigenous sources to support the country's steel industry.

The agreement was signed in accordance with the companies' efforts to strengthen domestic availability of coking coal and reduce dependence on imports.
