
New Delhi: State-owned Steel Authority of India (SAIL) on Monday said it has supplied over 31,000 tonnes of steel for the under-construction Zojila Tunnel project on the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh National Highway.
The tunnel is a crucial part of India's national infrastructure development, specifically the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh National Highway, and will significantly enhance civilian and military mobility in the region.
"SAIL has been a crucial partner to this strategic infrastructure initiative, having supplied over 31,000 tonnes of steel, including TMT Re-bars, structurals, and plates.
"The continuous supply of steel to this project, as it progresses towards its 2027 completion, underscores its unwavering commitment," the steel giant statement in a said on Monday.
Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) is India's largest steel producing entity in the public sector, having an annual capacity of over 20 million tonnes.
