
New Delhi: THDC India Limited, a power PSU and subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has announced the successful commissioning and commencement of commercial operations of Unit-II (250 MW) of the Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (PSP), marking another significant step in strengthening India’s hydro power capacity.
The 4x250 MW Tehri PSP project is a key component of THDC’s renewable energy portfolio. With the commissioning of its second unit, the total installed and commercial capacity of THDC India Limited now stands at 2,747 MW.
According to an official filing made by the company on July 8, 2025, the Unit-II of Tehri PSP will be considered commercially operational from 00:00 hours of July 10, 2025, following all necessary approvals and successful commissioning.
The Tehri PSP is designed to provide peak load support and grid stability, enabling better integration of renewable energy sources into the national grid. It plays a crucial role in managing power demand fluctuations and advancing India’s energy transition goals.
