New Delhi: Nivedita Prasad (IRS) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Rural Development in the Ministry of Rural Development. She has been recommended for the central deputation by the Department of Revenue. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), she has been selected for the appointment to the post under the central staffing scheme (CSS) for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post until further orders, whichever is earlier. "She may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up her new assignment in the Department of Rural Development," the order noted.
Nivedita Prasad is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the 2010-batch. She is currently serving in the Income Tax Department, Kolkata.
Department of Rural Development is a department under the Ministry of Rural Development. The department is headed by a senior civil servant designated as the Secretary of the Department. The department runs three national-level schemes: Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for rural road development, Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) for rural employment and for rural housing and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. It handles the administration of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA).
