New Delhi: The Central Government has approved the appointment of Pausumi Basu (IAS) as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), she has been appointed to the post under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Basu is a 2007-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Telangana cadre. She is currently posted as Additional Commissioner at GHMC Telangana. "She may kindly be relieved of her duties immediately with instructions to take up her new assignment in the Ministry of Home Affairs," the order further added.

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is mainly responsible for the maintenance of internal security and domestic policy. The Home Ministry is headed by Amit Shah. The ministry is also the cadre controlling authority for the Indian Police Service (IPS), DANIPS and DANICS. The Police-I Division of the ministry is the cadre controlling authority in respect of the Indian Police Service; whereas, the UT Division is the administrative division for DANIPS.
