New Delhi: Sanjay Banga is set to be the new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Cement Corporation of India (CCI), a PSU under the Ministry of Heavy Industry. He has been recommended for the post of CMD of CCI by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. He is currently serving as Chief Engineer (Civil) at Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL). Currently, Engineering Projects (India) Limited's CMD DS Rana holds the additional charge of the CCI CMD post. Rana was given an additional charge of the post on May 1 after BVN Prasad's superannuation.
Banga has been recommended for the post of CMD of CCI from the list of three candidates, who were interviewed by the Public Sector head hunter body. Other candidates were from the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and Indian Railways Service of Engineers (IRSE).
Cement Corporation of India Limited (CCI) was incorporated as a company wholly owned by the government. The principal objective of the company is achieving self-sufficiency in cement production. The authorised and paid-up capital of the company is Rs 900 crores and Rs 811.41 crores respectively. CCI is at present having three operating units with an installed capacity of 14.46 lakh MT per annum. In line with the advancement in cement technology, CCI had been adopting the latest one with one million tonne plants at Tandur. Bokajan unit at Assam is under expansion.
