PK Agarwal appointed CMD of CCI Limited

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Pradeep Kumar Agarwal as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) Limited on Monday. He is currently serving as Director (Marketing) in the same organisation. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Agarwal has been appointed as CMD of CCI for a period with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post on or after June 1, till the date of his superannuation i.e November 30, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Agarwal was recommended for the post of CMD of CCI Limited by a PESB panel on October 18, 2019. He was selected from the list of four candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. With his new charge, Agarwal will replace Dr P Alli Rani, who is heading the organisation currently.

Agarwal also was recommended for the post of Director (Marketing) CCI on January 3 by PESB panel. That time he was working as Director (Finance and Commercial) in the same company.

Cotton Corporation of India Limited

The Cotton Corporation of India Limited (CCI) is a government agency, engaged in diverse activities related to trade, procurement, and export of cotton. CCI is a public sector agency responsible for equitable distribution of cotton among the different constituents of the industry and aid imports of cotton. It was incorporated on July 31, 1970, under the Companies Act 1956. The PSU fall under the administrative control of the Ministry of Textile.
