New Delhi: NITI Aayog has announced the appointment of Deepak Bagla as the new Mission Director of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM). A seasoned leader with over three decades of experience spanning investment promotion, banking, policy advisory, and institutional development, Bagla’s appointment comes at a significant juncture as AIM enters an expanded phase of its mandate.

Before assuming this role, Bagla served as the Managing Director and CEO of Invest India, the Government of India’s national investment promotion and facilitation agency. Under his leadership, Invest India garnered numerous global recognitions and played a pivotal role in supporting the country's entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem. His tenure also saw India strengthening its position as a preferred investment destination.

Bagla has contributed to multiple high-level government committees and represented India at global platforms, including his tenure as President of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA). His professional journey spans across the private sector, multilateral institutions, and government, giving him a unique cross-sectoral perspective.

An alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, Bagla also holds Master’s degrees in International Diplomacy and International Trade & Finance from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.
