Poonam Meena (IRS) appointed Deputy Secretary, Health & Family Welfare

New Delhi: Poonam Meena (IRS) has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Health & Family Welfare under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Meena has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Meena is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 2011-batch. She was recommended for the Central deputation by the Department of Revenue. She is currently serving as Deputy Director at Customs & Central Excise Department, Ministry of Finance. "She may kindly be relieved of her duties immediately with instructions to take up her new assignment in the Department of Health & Family Welfare," the order further added.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare is a department under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). It is responsible for all government programmes relating to family planning in India.
