
Bhubaneswar: Sudhanshu Mohan Samal (IAS) has taken over as the new Managing Director of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) on November 26. Samal took charge from the outgoing MD Balwant Singh (IAS). A 2010-batch IAS officer Samal was made MD, OMC in a minor reshuffle on November 24, 2024. Earlier he held the charge of Additional Secretary in the Water Resources Department.
A child prodigy Samal was under top-20 rank when he had got selected for India's most coveted job, the Indian Administrative Services. At the time of his selection, he was already working with then Planning Commission, now NITI Aayog as the IES officer (2007-batch). He is a post-graduate in Economics from Central University, Hyderabad.
Samal was posted as Joint-secretary, Water Resources department in June 2022 before getting posted as District Magistrate and Collector in many prominent districts of Odisha.
He was later elevated as Additional Secretary in the same department.
