New Delhi: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has appointed Dilip Kumar as its Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), with effect from April 27, 2026.

Kumar, a senior officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), brings over two decades of experience spanning train operations, rolling stock maintenance and human resource management in Indian Railways.

Prior to this appointment, he held several key positions in Indian Railways, including Additional Divisional Railway Manager in East Central Railway and Chief Workshop Manager at Harnaut in Nalanda, Bihar. During his tenure, he led multiple innovative initiatives, including the introduction of the first ISO 9001-certified train in East Central Railway, pioneering in-situ wheel replacement techniques for wagons, and contributing to the widely acclaimed Madhubani railway station beautification project.

ACC appoints 7 officers as CVOs across key PSUs, Departments

An engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi, Shri Kumar has been recognised for his contributions with the National Award for Outstanding Services in 2016 and the Railway Board’s Certificate of Excellence for Best Innovation for 2018–19.

He has also undergone advanced management programmes at INSEAD Singapore and ICLIF Kuala Lumpur, along with specialised training in wagon bogie design at ARI, Chicago, USA.

His appointment is expected to further strengthen vigilance mechanisms and governance standards at SAIL.
