New Delhi: State-owned natural gas major GAIL (India) Limited has appointed Kushagra Mittal (IRTS) as Government Nominee Director on its Board with effect from June 4. The appointment follows a nomination by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG) and will remain effective until August 10, 2026.

This information has been shared by the Maharatna PSU in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on June 4.

Mittal is currently serving as Director in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, where he oversees matters related to the ministry’s marketing division, including pricing policy and the LPG vertical.

An Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer from the 2010 Civil Services batch, he brings extensive experience in operations, business development, and public administration.

A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad, Mittal later earned a Master's degree in Public Policy from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, where he was awarded the Director’s Gold Medal for overall academic excellence.

Prior to his current role, Mittal held several key positions in the Western Railway, including Assistant Operations Manager, Divisional Operations Manager, Area Railway Manager, and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager. In these assignments, he was responsible for train operations, business development, and administrative functions. Before joining the civil services, he also worked with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), one of India's leading public sector engineering companies.
