New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Jacintha Lazarus as Executive Director (South) of Food Corporation of India (FCI), Chennai. According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on Monday, she has been appointed as Executive Director (South) (JS level) of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), Chennai under the Department of Food and Public Distribution for a period with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post for a combined tenure of seven years up-to November 12, 2027 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Lazarus is a 2005-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Manipur cadre. Presently, she is posted in her home cadre.
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is a statutory body created and run by the Government of India. It is under the ownership of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. It was set up in 1965 with its initial headquarters at Chennai. Later this was moved to New Delhi. It also has regional centers in the capitals of the states.
