PESB recommends Ashutosh Gautam for NBCC's Director (Projects) post

New Delhi: Ashutosh Gautam is set to be next Director (Projects) of NBCC (India) Limited, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on Tuesday.

Currently, Gautam is serving as Member (Technical) and also holds the additional charge of Member (Traffic & Logistics) at the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

The recommendation was made during PESB Meeting No. 47/2026 held on June 16. According to the minutes of the meeting, Gautam emerged as the selected candidate following interviews conducted for the post of Director (Projects).

A total of 12 candidates from various public sector enterprises and organisations were interviewed by the PESB for the position. The candidates represented organisations including NBCC (India) Limited, Hindustan Steelworks Construction Limited, IRCON International Limited, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, Engineers India Limited, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Container Corporation of India Limited, National Small Industries Corporation and others.

Gautam is a senior infrastructure professional with over three decades of experience in transportation and infrastructure development. Prior to join IWAI, he held several leadership positions in NHAI, including CMD of Ahmedabad Vadodara Expressway Company Limited (AVEC) and Chief General Manager (Technical). He has extensive experience in highway development, project management, contract administration and toll operations.

Gautam holds a B. Tech in Civil Engineering from G.B. Pant University, Pantnagar, an M.Tech from IIT Delhi and an LLB from Kanpur University. He is a recipient of the Chancellor’s Gold Medal from Pantnagar University and has also served as a visiting faculty member at premier institutions including IITs, and IIM Lucknow.

The recommendation of PESB will now be processed further in accordance with the prescribed procedure for approval by the competent authority before the appointment is finalized.
