

New Delhi: Chandrasekharan Raghuram is set to be next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a PSU under the Ministry of Defence. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Wednesday.
Raghuram has been recommended for the top post of HSL from a list of 11 candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its 6th selection meeting of 2026 held on January 28. These included senior executives from leading public sector undertakings such as Hindustan Shipyard Limited, NTPC Limited, Engineers India Limited, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Cement Corporation of India, Central Warehousing Corporation, THDC India Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, and officials from the National Security Council Secretariat, besides Shri Raghuram.
The post of CMD at HSL is a key leadership role, responsible for steering the shipyard’s strategic, operational and financial performance. HSL plays a critical role in India’s maritime and defence ecosystem, with capabilities spanning shipbuilding, ship repairs and submarine refits.
The PESB recommendation will now be forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval.
