New Delhi: Uday A Kaole is set to be the next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a PSU under the Ministry of Coal. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. Presently, he is serving as Director (Technical/P&P) in Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).

Kaole has been recommended for the post of CMD of MCL from a list of 12 candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its meeting held September 19, 2023. Out of 12 candidates, two candidates were from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), two candidates from Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), two from Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and one each from Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Ltd (CMPDIL), NTPC Limited, Indian Railways Accounts Service, Indian Railways Stores Service and BCCL.

Singh is graduated in Mining Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. He obtained his 1st Class Mine Manager Certification in 1990 and Masters in Open Cast Mining Technology in the year 1992 from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. He also acquired Post Graduate Diploma in Management in the year 1996.

He Joined Coal India Limited in the Year 1986 at Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). He rendered his services in CCL before joining ECL in 2003. In ECL, he contributed in many major open cast projects as General Manager. His services were also utilized in Corporate Planning and Contract Management Cell at ECL wherein he contributed to the long-term sustainability of the mining operations.

Before joining BCCL as Director (Technical), Singh was shouldering the responsibility of 20 MTY Amrapali Project at CCL as Area General Manager.
