New Delhi: Pankaj Kumar Goswami has taken over as Director (Operations) of Oil India Limited, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) on Monday. Prior to this assignment, Goswami was serving as Chief General Manager (Projects) in the Projects Department at OIL's Field Head Quarter, Duliajan. He has been appointed on the post with effect from June 1, till the date of his superannuation, i.e. September 30, 2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Goswami was recommended for the post of Director (Operations) of Oil India by a PESB panel on November 15, 2019. He was selected from a list of six candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. With this appointment, Goswami has replaced Pramod Kumar Sharma, was serving on the post since June 1, 2015.
Education & background
Goswami did his schooling from Digboi and acquired BE in Mechanical engineering from Assam Engineering College, Guwahati. He also completed an advanced post-graduate diploma in Maintenance Management in 2001.
Goswami has over 31 years of experience in oil & gas production activities at Assam-Arakan basin in Northeast India. He also conceptualized many out-of-box ideas. He has headed various high-level committees and task forces to oversee critical projects and activities related to oil and gas production, infrastructure facility implementation, operational issues and technology initiatives. He had also presented a number of scientific papers relevant to the oil and gas industry both at national and international level. Goswami has a very long association with OIL about 32 years.
