

New Delhi: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced the appointment of Priya Ranjan as Director-in-Charge of Bokaro Steel Plant on Friday. Prior to his appointment, Priya Ranjan was serving as Executive Director (Works) at Bokaro Steel Plant.
Ranjan was recommended for the post of Director-in-Charge of SAIL's Bokaro Steel Plant by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on August 25. His appointment came into effect on December 24, pursuant to an order issued by the Ministry of Steel on December 23. This information has been share by SAIL, in a regulatory filing to the stock exchnages on Friday.
An alumnus of BIT Sindri with a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Ranjan also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management with specialisation in Finance from IMT Ghaziabad. He began his professional career in the non-ferrous metals sector and joined SAIL in 1994 as a Junior Manager at the Steel Melting Shop of IISCO Steel Plant, Burnpur, West Bengal. He has over three decades of experience in the steel sector and has held several senior positions within SAIL, including Executive Director (Operations) at the company’s corporate office in New Delhi.
During his career at SAIL, he has worked across steelmaking, production planning, corporate strategy, and operations. He has also been associated with the offices of successive Chairmen and Managing Directors at SAIL’s corporate headquarters and has handled responsibilities related to mines, logistics, and overseas operations, including at ICVL in Mozambique.
As Director-in-Charge of Bokaro Steel Plant, Ranjan will oversee operations at one of SAIL’s key production units, which plays a significant role in the company’s overall steel output.
