New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Rajesh Khullar (lAS) as Executive Director in the World Bank’s Headquarters in Washington DC (USA). According to a DoPT order issued on September 14, he has been appointed to the post for a tenure of three years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or till the date of his superannuation, i.e. August 31, 2023, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Khullar is a 1988-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Haryana cadre. He is currently serving as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, and as Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs.

Khullar is a science graduate and holds a post-graduate degree in Physics from Panjab University. He is a senior bureaucrat and has served in the Union Finance Ministry as Joint Secretary for four years from February 2011 till 2015. He was repatriated to his parent cadre subsequently as a special officer in the chief minister’s office, served as an additional principal secretary to the CM for a while before being appointed as principal secretary to the CM in November 2015.
