New Delhi: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation's (IRCTC) Director (Tourism & Marketing) Rajni Hasija, who is currently holding the additional charge of the IRCTC CMD post, has been given a tenure extension on the post, an official order said on Tuesday. The Ministry of Railways has said that Hasija will continue to hold additional charge of the IRCTC CMD post for a further period of six months, with effect from August 1, or until the regularly selected incumbent joins the post.

This is the one of the several extensions announced for Hasija since she took additional charge of the IRCTC CMD position on February 1, 2021. State-run IRCTC has been without a full-time CMD since January 31, 2021, which adds up to 19 months.

"This is in continuation to our letter No.2019/IRCTC/CS/ST.EX/356 dated 1st August, 2022, on the captioned subject, vide which, it was informed that Smt.Rajni Hasija, Director (T&M), IRCTC will continue to hold the additional charge of the post of the CMD, IRCTC beyond July 31,2022 and until further orders, as conveyed by Ministry of Railways, Government of lndia vide its letter dated August 1, 2022," said IRCTC in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Tuesday.

"ln line with the above, Ministry of Railways, Government of lndia vide letter No. 2016/E(O)lll40l11 dated September 5, 2022, has now communicated that Smt. Rajni Hasija, Director (T&M), IRCTC will continue to hold the additional charge of the post of the CMD, IRCTC, in addition to her own, for a further period of 06 months w.e f 01.08.2022 or till the regularly selected incumbent joins the post or until further orders, whichever is the earliest," it added.

Hasija is an officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) of 1989-batch. She has been serving on the Board of IRCTC since May 18, 2018. She is a science scholar with an M Phil from Delhi University. She also possesses a post-graduate diploma in Human Resource Management and a degree in Law. In her illustrious career in Indian Railways spread over 29 years, she has worked in various managerial capacities in various divisions, zones as well as various Public Sector Undertakings and has extensive experience in the field of IT, marketing, operations and planning over Indian Railways.

Hasija has also been associated with IRCTC in the capacity of Group General Manager handling IT business segment and also overall in-charge of an entire zone. She had a pioneering role in the inception and development of the internet ticketing site of railways 'www.irctc.co.in'. With her sound technical knowledge, organising and planning skills and ability to communicate with her peers and team, she has successfully completed very challenging and time-bound projects for IRCTC, which ranged from planning and execution of the dynamic online cum counter ticketing platform for Commonwealth Games 2010 to International Marketing of Maharajas' Express Luxury Tourist Train.
