New Delhi: Driven by increased production from Reliance Industries Ltd's (RIL) KG DWN 98/3 block in KG Basin, India's natural gas production for June has gone up by 19.52 percent year-on-year. However, the overall output, at 2,777.43 MMSCM, has still fell short of the month's target by 5.26 percent, data released by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Friday showed. The cumulative natural gas production during April-June period or Q1 of FY22 was 8,168.56 MMSCM, which was 20.39 percent higher in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal but 3.52 percent lower than the target for the period.

"Increase in gas production is through contributions from D-34 field of KG DWN 98/3, which commenced from 18.12.2020, wells from satellite cluster (commenced w.e.f 25.4.2021)," said the ministry. Natural gas production by private/JV companies in the PSC/RSC/CBM regime during June was 862.44 MMSCM, which was 10.46 percent higher than the month's target and 201.97 percent higher when compared with June 2020. The cumulative natural gas production by private/JVs during April-June was 2,440.99 MMSCM, which was 14.57 percent higher than the target for Q1FY22 and 210.94 percent higher than in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. 

ONGC's natural gas production misses target by 11.70%

Natural gas production by state-run Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in the nomination blocks during June 2021 was 1,684.85 MMSCM, which is 11.70 percent lower than the month's target and 7.37 percent lower in comparison to June 2020. The cumulative natural gas production by ONGC during April-June was 5,052.38 MMSCM, which was 9.83 percent lower than the target for the period and 5.57 percent lower when compared to the corresponding period of the last year. 

OIL improves natural gas output in June y-o-y

Natural gas production by Oil India Ltd (OIL) in the nomination block was 230.14 MMSCM in June, which was 4.97 percent higher in comparison to June 2020 but 5.16 percent lower than the target for the month. The cumulative natural gas production by OIL during April-June was 675.20 MMSCM, which was 3.95 percent higher when compared to the corresponding period of the last year but 7.90 percent lower than the target for the period.
