RINL-VSP celebrates National Safety Day

Vishakhapatnam: The 9th National Safety Day has been celebrated in RINL-VSP. The programme was organised by the Safety Engineering Department of RINL in Ukkunagaram. DCS Varma (Director of Factories) GoAP called upon the employees of Vizag Steel to sincerely aim for zero tolerance to achieve zero incidents and added that the biggest challenge to achieve this goal is to work towards controlling deviations by using latest advancements in technology. Once, we achieve this goal it automatically improves safety performance in the plant, he said.

Varma was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted with several examples of incidents occur due to human negligence, attitudinal change and lack of control. He said that remedial measures to be taken on a continuous basis to avoid mishaps. Safety is an ongoing process in human life and behavioural attitude/thinking play a vital role in avoiding mishaps in industries, he observed.

While speaking on the occasion RINL's CMD PK Rath said that performance of the plant is largely measured on how best safe operations are carried out in the plant and usage of the latest technology will contribute for safe work culture. He urged the employees to follow safety procedures, wear safety appliances to promote safety in the plant. He lauded the factories department for their regular guidance and encouraging RINL in maintaining good safety standards in the plant and enabling RINL to comply with legal requirements.

RINL's Director (Finance) VV Venugopal Rao, Director (Commercial) DK Mohanty, Director (Projects) KK Ghosh, Director (Operations) AK Saxena, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) PJ Vijayakar, Joint Chief Inspector of Factories (GoAP) Siva Sankar Reddy, Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories KBS Prasad were participated in the event.

On the occasion, a safety pledge was administered by the dignitaries and employees to mark the occasion. Later, the dignitaries distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted to mark the occasion.

Executive Directors, GMs, representatives of Steel Executive Association, unions, SC&ST, OBC association and a large number of employees participated.

RINL's General Manager (Safety) J Sanyal welcomed the gathering. RINL's HOD (Safety) Krishnaiah in his presentation highlighted the safety performance and safety promotional activities on the occasion.
