New Delhi: The Central government has entrusted RITES Ltd with the task of identifying potential markets for the export of indigenously manufactured Vande Bharat trains, said Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday. In a written response to a question raised in the Rajya Sabha, Vaihnaw said, "Indian Railways is looking forward to export of indigenously manufactured Vande Bharat trains. For this purpose, RITES Ltd have been entrusted with the task of identifying potential market for export."
"The production of these trains is being stepped up to conform to traffic requirements. The sleeper version of Vande Bharat is under development," said Vaishnaw. The layouts of sleeper version have been designed and are being firmed up, he added.
Currently, six Vande Bharat trains are in service in the Indian Railways. "The induction of more service is being under taken as per operational requirement, financial justification and commercial viability," said the minister.
