New Delhi: The Ministry of Power has appointed Sandesh Kumar Sharma as Technical Member in Appellate Tribunal for Electricity. According to an order issued on September 14, he has been appointed to the post for a period of four years, with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as Member (Planning) in Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

Sharma has completed his Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) and Master of Engineering (Electronics and Communication) from IIT Roorkee. He started his career in Power System Wing in the Organization and worked in various capacities. He has acquired vast experience in the field of system Planning studies Generation Planning studies, grid operations, legal & regulation reforms, framing and examining various technical regulations, appraisal of power sector projects, demand forecast etc.

Sharma was also associated with the development of the IT infrastructure in CEA. During the assignments in North Eastern Regional Power Committee from 2005 to 2008, he was responsible for the improvement of the North-Eastern grid, planning of inter-state / intra-state transmission system, planning of outages for the generating and transmission units.
