New Delhi: (DoPT News) The government has assigned additional charge of Member (Finance) of Space Commission, Earth Commission, and Atomic Energy Commission to Sanjeeva Kumar (IAS). Kumar is a 1986-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Assam cadre. He is currently serving as Secretary in the Department of Border Management under the Ministry of Home Affairs. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been given additional charge of the post with immediate effect, until further orders.

Profile of Sanjeeva Kumar (IAS)

Sanjeeva is a Masters of Science (MSc). He joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1986. In his career spanning over three decades, he has served in different Ministries (Finance and Defence) at the Centre and in different departments such as Home, Finance, Labour, Environment & Forests, Health and Irrigation in the state governments of Assam and Meghalaya. He has a wide-ranging and rich experience as a civil servant, both at execution and policy-making level.

A multi-faceted person, he keenly follows the public policy issues, especially in the realm of health, environment and forest and has published a number of papers in international journals. His article on 'Widespread Garo resistance against the British Rule' has been published by Orient Blackswan. His paper on "Forest management in Post-independence Meghalaya" got wide acclaim and was selected for Best Research Paper Award out of 170 research papers from over 60 countries for 2005-06 by ISS, The Hague, Netherlands.
