New Delhi: Ministry of Power's Secretary Sanjiv Nandan Sahai (IAS) visited the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on December 3. During the visit, he was accompanied by the Ministry of Power's Joint Secretary (Hydro) Tanmay Kumar (IAS), Power Grid's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) K Sreekant and NHPC Limited's CMD AK Singh.
On his arrival at Changlang helipad, Sahai was accorded a hearty welcome by Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly's Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte and Changlang's (South) MLA Phosum Khimhum along with Deputy Commissioner (I/c), Superintendent of Police of Changlang district and senior officials from NHPC and Power Grid.
At the Circuit House of Changlang, Sahai was given a warm traditional welcome by the local residents. It may be recalled that the visiting Secretary (Power) served the people of Changlang as Deputy Commissioner during the year 1991-94. The local residents recalled the immense developmental works undertaken at Changlang during the tenure of Sahai.
Secretary (Power) also took a review meeting on the development of mini and micro-hydro projects of Changlang district. The meeting was chaired by Phosum Khimhum wherein the Arunachal Pradesh State Hydro Power Department briefed about the various issues associated with mini and micro-hydro projects in the district. The issues related to the erection of transmission lines by Power Grid was also discussed at length and the visiting Secretary (Power) assured all necessary help and support from the Ministry.
