SR Narasimhan assumes additional charge of POSOCO CMD

New Delhi: SR Narasimhan has taken over additional charge as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of POSOCO Limited, a PSU under the Ministry of Power. He has taken over the charge of the post from KVS Baba, who superannuated from the services on February 1, 2022. He is currently serving as Director (System Operations). He has been recommended for POSOCO's CMD post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on December 6. He will be taking over as full-time CMD of POSOCO, after getting the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet's (ACC) nod.

Narasimhan holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) in Finance. He has over three decades' experience in power system operation spread across CEA, POWERGRID and POSOCO after an initial stint with BHEL. Prior to his assignment as Director (System Operation) of POSOCO, he was serving as Executive Director of National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC) and was responsible for reliable and economic operation of the all India electricity grid which is also connected to the neighbouring countries of Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Narasimhan has contributed to several expert committees at the government and regulatory levels in different areas ranging from system operation, grid integration of renewable energy (RE) resources and optimization to institution building. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, India, a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of CIGRE. He was conferred with the IEEE-PES, Delhi Chapter Outstanding Engineer Award in 2019 and the CIGRE Distinguished Member in 2020. He has published over 40 papers at the national and international levels.
