New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Vineet Pandey (IPoS) as Secretary in the Department of Post. He has been appointed to the post in place of Pradipta Kumar Bisoi (lPoS), who set to superannuate on April 30. He is an Indian Postal Service (IPoS) officer of the 1986-batch. He is currently posted as Director General Postal Services (DGPS).
The Department of Posts (DoP), trading as India Post, is a government-operated postal system in India, which is a subsidiary of the Ministry of Communications. Generally called "the Post Office" in India, it is the most widely distributed postal system in the world. Warren Hastings had taken initiative under East India Company to start the Postal Service in India in 1788.
