VSK Kaumudi (IPS) gets additional charge as Secretary (Security) of Cabinet Secretariat

New Delhi: The Central Government has assigned the additional charge of Secretary (Security) of Cabinet Secretariat to VSK Kaumudi (IPS). According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), issued on March 2, Kaumudi has been assigned with the additional charge of the post with immediate effect and till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Kaumudi is a 1986-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre. He is currently serving as Special Secretary (Internal Security), Ministry of Home Affairs. Previously, he had served as Superintendent of Police in the State and then as Superintendent of Police in the Central Bureau of investigation, and also as Additional Director General (ADG) in Railways and in the reputed National Investigation Agency (NIA). The officer was also posted as Addl DG in the Bureau of Police Research & Development, which is the think tank for the Indian Police.

The Cabinet Secretariat is responsible for the administration of the Government of India. It functions from the Secretariat Building, New Delhi, where most of the Cabinet of India sits. It comprises a set of two buildings on opposite sides of Rajpath which are home to some of the most important ministries of the Government, situated on Raisina Hill, New Delhi, India.
