‘World Environment Day-2020’ celebration at NCL

Singrauli: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) celebrated 'World Environment Day-2020' with all norms of social distancing in a simplistic manner in the wake of COVID-19. On the occasion, NCL's CMD Prabhat Kumar Sinha said that NCL is fully committed to the conservation of the environment and biodiversity along with the energy security of the nation. During his address, he told that NCL has planted more than 2 crore 43 lakh trees so far and increasing the coal dispatch through rail and eco-friendly mode of the coal transport system (MGR and BPC). He also said that modern technology and equipment are being used in NCL to monitor and control noise, water, and air pollution.

In the program, NCL's Director (Personnel) Bimlendu Kumar, Director (Technical/ Project and Planning) Anindya Sinha, JCC Members, and departmental heads were also present.
 
Earlier, the program started with unfurling of environment flag by the CMD, General Manager Environment CS Tiwari read the environment day message of CIL Chairman Pramod Agarwal and administered the pledge to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, water bodies and wildlife and have compassion for living creatures, take care to safeguard the natural resources of the earth including air, water land, flora, and fauna. All the dignitaries present on the occasion planted the saplings in the NCL headquarters premises. 

The best participants of essay, slogan, and painting competition organised in view of World Environment Day-2020 were awarded and a painting and poster exhibition depicting biodiversity and other environmental-related topics was also on display.
