ACC appoints Vinod Pal (IRSME) as Financial Advisor in NCLAT

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for the appointment of Vinod Pal (IRSME). According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Pal has been appointed as Financial Advisor in NCLAT on a lateral shift basis for the balance of his tenure i.e. up-to September 23, 2022 (combined tenure of seven years) from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment," the order said. Pal counts his deputation tenure with effect from September 24, 2015.

Pal is an Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer of 1994-batch. Currently, he is serving as Director in the Ministry of Defence.

National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT)

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) is a tribunal that was formed by the government under Section 410 of the Companies Act, 2013. The tribunal is responsible for hearing appeals from the orders of the National Company Law Tribunals (NCLT), starting on June 1, 2016. The tribunal also hears appeals from orders issued by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India under Section 202 and Section 211 of IBC. It also hears appeals from any direction issued, the decision made, or order passed by the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The current Chairman of NCLAT is Justice Bansi Lal Bhat.
