ACC approves appointments of these 3 senior IAS officers

• ACC has approved the appointments of three senior IAS officers at Secretary Level on Saturday

• All three IAS officers to take charge on September 30

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the Prime Minister has approved the following appointments at Secretary Level. Here is the list:

1. Anand Kumar (lAS) has been appointed as Secretary of National Commission for Backward Classes under the Ministry of Social Justice. He has been appointed to the post, in-place of Ajoy Kumar (lAS) who is set to superannuate on September 30. Kumar is a 1984-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of Kerala cadre. Currently, he is serving as Secretary of the Ministry of Culture.

2. S Aparna (lAS) has been appointed as Secretary of Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. With her new appointment, she will replace PO Vaghela (IAS), who is set to superannuate on September 30. Aparna is a 1988-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Gujarat cadre. She had served as Executive Director of World Bank in 2017. In 2019, she was promoted as Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) while she was on deputation in Washington DC as Executive Director, World Bank.

3. Apurva Chandra (lAS) has been appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Apurva is a 1988-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of Maharashtra cadre. He is currently serving as Special Secretary & Director in the Ministry of Defence. With his new charge, he will replace Heera Lal Samariya (IAS), who is set to superannuate on September 30.
