New Delhi: Brajesh Kumar Pandey (IDAS) has been selected for appointment as Joint Secretary (Director level) in the Central Information Commission (CIC), Delhi. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) he has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Pandey is an Indian Defence Account Service (IDAS) officer of 2006-batch. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Ministry of Defence. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Central Information Commission," the order further read.

Pandey has completed his Graduation (BA) and Post-Graduation (MA) from Allahabad University. He also completed B Ed from Veer Bahudar Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur.

Central Information Commission (CIC)

The Central Information Commission (CIC) is a statutory body, set up under the Right to Information Act in 2005. The Commission has certain powers and functions mentioned in sections 18, 19, 20 and 25 of the RTI Act, 2005. These broadly relate to adjudication in the second appeal for giving information, direction for record-keeping, suo moto disclosures receiving and enquiring into a complaint on the inability to file RTI etc, the imposition of penalties and monitoring and reporting, including preparation of an annual report. The decisions of the commission are final and binding.
