Ganesh Kumar Baranwal (IDAS) appointed as Deputy Secretary in Defence Ministry

New Delhi: Ganesh Kumar Baranwal (IDAS) has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Traning (DoPT) issued on March 8, Baranwal has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Baranwal is an Indian Defence Account Service (IDAS) officer of 2007-batch. He was recommended for the Central deputation by the Ministry of Defence. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Defence," the order further read.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is charged with coordinating and supervising all agencies and functions of the government relating directly to national security and the Indian armed forces. The President of India is the ceremonial commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the country. The Ministry of Defence provides policy framework and resources to the armed forces to discharge their responsibility in the context of the defence of the country.
