According to an official memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Malik's tenure as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Commerce under the Central Staffing Scheme has been curtailed. He will assume his new role in DAJGUA with effect from the date of taking charge, for the remaining period of his central deputation tenure, which extends until September 2, 2028, or until further orders.

Malik, a 2013-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, has been serving on central deputation since September 3, 2024. His new assignment under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs places him at the helm of DAJGUA, a key government initiative aimed at the socio-economic upliftment of tribal communities.
