Janesh Kain (IFS) appointed as Adviser in SCO Secretariat, Beijing

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Janesh Kain (IFS) as Adviser in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretariat, Beijing on August 24. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DopT), he has been appointed to the post on a deputation basis for a period of three years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Kain is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of 2006-batch. He is currently serving as Deputy High Commissioner in the High Commission of India, Port Louis, Mauritius. With his new assignment, he will replace Ashish Kumar Singh Arya (IFS).

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance, the creation of which was announced on June 15, 2001, in Shanghai, China by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan; the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Charter, formally establishing the organization, was signed in June 2002 and entered into force on September 19, 2003.
